EMMY Presentation

"This award show did the unimaginable. It made the presentation of the Craft Emmy's fun even for those totally outside the biz."
- The Hollywood Reporter

For twenty years I produced the Television Academy's Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which recognizes art directors, costumers, composers, and similar behind-the-scenes artists, talent, and producers.

I was brought on board in 1994 when the Academy's membership was looking to create an entertaining event similar in stature to the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast. (scroll)

During my tenure, the show grew from a dinner dance held at a convention hall to a televised event filling what is now the Microsoft Theater at LA Live.

In 2015, in appreciation of my longtime service, the Academy recognized me with the Syd Cassyd Founders Award, presented by my friend and colleague, producer Chuck Lorre.

Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum said:

"Spike has been an important part of the DNA of the Television Academy for a very long time. He has strongly influenced the artistic direction of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, and shaped it into a wonderful celebration of the many artists, technicians, and talents who are the heart and soul of our industry."
